Increase in mobile web browsing

Web browser maker Opera has announced that mobile web browsing has become more popular this year. This is a bit of a breakthrough for mobile browsing and it's great to see that people are embracing the fact that they're able to surf the Internet on the move.

According to Opera's report, Google is the most viewed site which is the same for the regular Internet. Facebook is the 2nd most popular website and Yahoo! is just ahead of the BBC. Bebo rounds off the top 5. The fact that there are two social networking websites in the top 5 suggests that mobile Internet goes hand in hand with people wanting to update people on what they do. Indeed, I've seen on my own Facebook newsfeed that people have been telling me what they're up to on motorways and trains.

Opera also tell us that usage of their mobile browser has also increased. This further supports the idea that mobile browsing is on the up. Total mobile page views through Opera Mini increased by a massive 94.1% over the course of this year.

I don't have a phone that allows me to surf the web properly, but many of my iPhone and smart phone owning buddies tell me how great it is. I've had a play around, and I must admit, my next phone is going to allow me to browse the web properly.

Anyway! Enough of this hi tech talk. It's Christmas Eve, and we're going to be clocking off early(ish) today at Laskys Towers. On behalf of everyone here, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
