Buses

As a responsible retailer Laskys cares about the environment we live in. The problem is getting bigger: Electrical waste is increasing 5% per year and is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. It has been estimated that landfill space in the UK will run out within the next 10 years.

Did you know that UK consumers dispose over 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste every year ; this is the equivalent of:

  • 150,000 double decker buses, or
  • 164 Eiffel Towers, or
  • 200,000 African Elephants, or
  • 444,444 Range Rovers

What is Laskys doing?

As part of the Government WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations, Laskys has made significant financial investment to increase recycling rates of electrical goods in UK.

This investment has been used towards the development and upgrade of 'Designated Collection facilities' (DCFs) throughout the UK. From July 1st 2007 you will be able to return any old electrical item you have for recycling free of charge to one of these sites.

Where can I recycle?

DCFs will be nationwide and is likely that your ‘local tip’ has been upgraded to provide this facility.

The recycle-more.co.uk website allows you to enter your postcode and you will then be directed to your nearest DCF.

More DCFs will be added over time so even if there is not one local to you now there soon will be.

Recycling tips

From now on all new electrical products that can be recycled will carry the ‘crossed out wheelie bin’ to help you remember to recycle them.
